Whoever has not visited Sněžka is as if they have not been to the Krkonoše Mountains. Our highest mountain attracts many hikers to climb it day and night. The easiest way to get there is by cable car from Pec pod Sněžkou. But you can also take it on foot via Obří důl (8.6 km – https://mapy.cz/s/denomukanu ), Růžová hora (7.6 km https://mapy.cz/s/kenobosese ) or Modrý důl via Richter’s huts, Výrovka and Luční bouda ( 14.1km https://mapy.cz/s/hefedoduku ). Alternatively, set off from Horní Malá Úpa along the ridge called the Czech-Polish Friendship Path.
Set off directly from Pec pod Sněžkou on a trip through Green and Blue Valley, which is a 9 km long circular route marked by the Czech Tourist Club. The route starts here and runs parallel to the interactive trail for children, which you leave at the Bukové údolí crossroads. The asphalt road rises sharply here, you pass the Milíře mountain hut and at the end you will find a beautiful mountain valley with several original cottages, which are registered as a protected ensemble of original mountain architecture and where you can have a snack. The route is quite demanding and not all parts are passable with a stroller. If you are going to Pec with older children, head to the Playland Pecka above the Portášky mountain chalet. It is a set of wooden objects and sculptures that children can climb, climb and crawl through. Here you will find the animal inhabitants of the Giant Mountains. Children can climb on ant larvae, climb into a lynx’s mouth, run through a viper or play in the skeleton of a fallen deer. All play elements are made of wood. Admission is free, open all year round and you will certainly have a problem getting your children out of here. From my own experience, I would recommend a visit to children over 3 years old.

Then a walk through the Giant Mine along the Úpa River, which leads to the chapel, is ideal for you. The road is asphalt, you will go through the forest, you will admire the majesty of the mountains and in the enclosures you can observe the animals that have their pasture here. It is 3 kilometers from Pec to here. If you go with a stroller, expect to have to return the same way back. You can get some refreshments at the hut in Obří důl, which offers outdoor and indoor seating and the food is very good there
